CBHS U17 Blue v Amberely 22 May 2010

It was going to be a hard tast for CBHS U17 Blue to beat top of the table Amberely on their own home ground. This was a well drilled side with some very competitive footballers. Our only saving was a fair netural referee.

The game was only 12 minutes old before Amberely scored their first goal. Another 2 goals in the first half came in the 40th and 45th minute. CBHS had their moments on attack but could not penetrate Amberaly's defence, leaving half time score 3-0.

In the second half CBHS battled for 30 minutes before allowing Ambererly's 4th goal, and Amberely's 5th in the last minute of the game.

CBHS didn't play badly, they found Amberely a much stronger side that played good football.

Brad Harris had a strong game in goal, but at times was out muscled by Amberely's attack. Guy Kennedy had a strong game in defence, repelling many of their attacks.

CBHS U17 Blue v Nomads 15 May 2010

A new strengthened attack with Daniel Lim and Shuiab Ahmed, sounded like a good combination for scoring goals. However this was not to be the case. 6 minutes into the game a header from a cross gave Nomads a 1 nil advantage. 16 minutes into the game Joe Bray scored. Some 4 minutes later a well weighted through ball to Daniel Lim who made no mistake, giving a half time score of 2-1 to CBHS.

It was only 6 minutes into the second when things went wrong for CBHS, Nomads scored 3 times in 6 minutes. It was very disappointing that two of these goals were allowed, one from an offside, and one from an indirect free kick when it touched no other player. No matter how hard CBHS tried with many attacks on Nomads goal, they could not increase their score line. Leaving the final score Nomads 4, CBHS 2.

Camryn Dyer had another outstanding game almost scoring from a run of 40 meters, once again he had the measure of his opposite marker and many times beating him with the ball, turning defence into attack. Joe Bray had some fine runs down the left flank again, scoring 1 good goal. Chris Broadbent had another solid game on the right wing.

CBHS U17 Blue v Avon B 8 May 2010

Another grey and wet day greeted CBHS 17 Blue to Avonhead Park to avenge the loss earlier in the season against Avon B.

Avon B started the game with only 10 players but held CBHS scoreless with good defending and often some good attacks. It wasn't until the 35th minute when Sam Williams pushed a well weighted ball through for James Stewart to run onto and score. There was no further scoring in the first half.

It was the 28th minute of the second half before Shuiab Ahmed slotted the ball into the top right corner from 40 meters. At this stage of the game Avon suddenly found 3 new players. Within the first minute of their players coming on they scored. In the 34th minute Joe Bray found the goalie off his line and nailed from 30 minutes.

In defence, Hamish Coull had a very good day pushing back attacks with many good headers. Up front Shuiab Ahmed challenged Avon's defence time and time again. Chris Broadbent and Camryn Dyer had solid games in defence clearing well and turning good ball onto attack. Joe Bray showed good speed and strength down the left flank, beating his opposite time and time again.

CBHS U17 Blue v Rolleston 1 May 2010

CBHS started against Rolleston full of confidence and looking towards a good victory. However this was not to be the case. With the wind behind them Rolleston used the high and long ball to attack at our to defence. It was 14 minutes into the game when Rolleston scored their first goal, CBHS failed to clear their line. 3 minutes later Dorian Grault scored the equalising goal.

Over the next 16 minutes of play Rolleston scored 4 unanswered goals, going to the break 5-1 up.

It was 5 minutes into the second half before Rolleston scored their 6th goal. Some 5 mins later following a corner Rolleston failed to clear their line and somehow the ball ended up in the back of the net. There were many attacks from both sides, failing to add to the score line, leaving the final score Rolleston 6 CBHS 2.

Rollestons' ability to use the high ball passed our backs gave them many opportunities to push forward on most occasions. Guy Kennedy was well positioned on many occasions to repel the attacks. However it must be said, the game did not reflect the final score as CBHS had a much better second half keeping Rollestons' score to 1 goal.

CBHS U17 Blue v Avon B 24 April 2010

Continuous heavy rain greeted CBHS 17 Blue at Avonhead Park. Short on players for the day, meant some players were playing out of position. The game was 21 mins into the first half when Avon scored the only goal of the game from a cross, catching our defence out of position.

The second half was scoreless with both teams mounting attacks on opposition goals. Brad Harris had an excellent game in goal once again repelling many of Avons' attacks. Without strong runners up front this meant CBHS chance of scoring were minimal.

Joe Bray had outstanding game with many good attacks up the left flank. In the mid-field Sam Williams combined well with Harry Munro to give our strikers some chance. In defence, Guy Kennedy and Cameryn Dyer both showed out strongly to shut down Avons' attacks.

CBHS U17 Blue v Parklands 17 April 2010

A rather bizzare start for CBHS 17 Blue, Parklands team arrived to play, however all their players were 18th grade and over. Parklands' coach defaulted the game, both teams agreed to play as a friendly match.

Within 2 mins from kick - off Manuel Quirno Costa scored with a header from a good cross from Chris Broadbent. This stunned Parklands into some action. 25mins later Chris Broadbent found Parklands' goal keeper off his line and scored from 30 meters. Some 11 mins later Parklands pulled the score back to be 2-1 down at half time.

The second half became a more vigorous encounter and some of Parklands' tackles and actions left a lot to be desired. Not only were they physically stronger and bigger, they could not match CBHS with their football skills. CBSH played good football on both attack and defence. Leaving the final score 2-1 victory to CBHS.

Cameryn Dyer had an outstanding game in defence, and repelled his opposites' attack time and time again, reducing the attack to frustration. Harry Munro showed size does not matter, good ball skills will beat opposition regardless of size. Brad Harris had a good first game up for the season, saving many strong attacks.
